Yeah. But theres still a different audience for HP than for Gone with the wind or Titanic. How many children could honestly sit through a movie that long? A lot of profit is from kids making their parents take them to see it...

Yeah, but also all the kids and all of the adults. Dont forget adults make up a good percentage of HP readers also...

I agree with Rach, you cant just make a movie as long as it takes...then again there is the LOTR movies...but anyway, as much as i love HP I wouldn't want to spend an entire day watching one of the books as a movie. I think the tings they cut out in the movie made sense, especially the house elves. I know it was important, but it was easy to work around and it didn't deter from the overall plot. Yes, it was Dobby who gave harry the gillyweed, but Moody did plant the book with Neville, even in the book. So yeah, point being, the movie cant be forever and a day.

I finially saw it tonight. I didn't really like it, they took so much out, changed so much, embellished so much, and added things in. That kinda annoyed me, the fact that they "didn't have time" to put everything in, but they could very easily add scenes that weren't in the book.

Ok, I have to look at this from a business PoV because its my job. They WERE going to make 2 movies and release them 6 months apart but decided against it. I think they thought that it wouldnt make sense because people associate the books with the movies (eg book 1 = movie 1) and they would end up with too many movies but I'm not 100% about that. So obviously as many children are finding it hard to sit through nearly 3 hours of film already, they cut parts of the sub plot out.
